Divorce is most often a significant financial investment into your future. That sounds so odd when you are walking away with less than you had access to as a married couple. However, through the divorce process, you are ideally setting yourself up for financial recovery and future well-being. You want to maximize what you have acquired during your marriage so that it can carry you securely into your future. That means retaining as much of that growth as possible for both of you.
The big question, then, is how much does divorce mediation cost? When parties choose the litigated route, and the use of attorneys becomes necessary, that "investment" increases significantly in the present and decreases your wealth markedly for the future. If you were to hire an attorney in Oregon, your retainer would be $3,500 - $7,000 per person. Cascade Mediation's most common package for divorce mediation, Package C, is $4,650 per person*. Including court filing and paralegal fees, that is a divorce DONE for the cost of just getting one rolling with attorneys.
The Fine Print: Cascade Mediation has packaged its divorce mediation services so that there can be at least one element of certainty for you during this time. As long as everyone is doing the work required during this process (gathering financial information, working cooperatively in mediation, and not renegotiating outside of mediation), I can choose a package for you that will accomplish your goals. However, if we find we need some extra time to wrap things up, ala cart services are available.
Additional costs not included in the package:
*Please note, Cascade Mediation will choose the package that best suits your situation.
**Prices are subject to change without notice until a Mediation Agreement is entered into between all parties and the mediator.
You can get a fully mediated divorce for less than the price of a retainer for an attorney.
